The pitch is the first pitch of its kind to be funded by the Rugby Football Union.

Hornets chairman Brad Speller said the club is ‘delighted’ to be part of the project, which will see three pitches created nationwide.

The pitch will prevent poor weather and ground conditions leading to cancelled games and training sessions during winter.

Mr Speller added: “The pitch will further enhance the facilities at the club.

“The beauty of the pitch is all playing members of the club will benefit, from the senior men’s and ladies’ teams, right down to the under-six team.”
