THE man believed to be world’s oldest triathlete may be ready to finally call it a day.
Arthur Gilbert, aged 92, of Berrow Road, Burnham, took part in the Burnham Triathlon on Sunday, competing with about 120 other adult athletes in the three-stage event along the town’s seafront.
The event, organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, went more smoothly than last year, when the cycling stage was rained off.
Mr Gilbert, who trains at the gym three times a week as well as going swimming twice weekly, said: “I will probably just do a lot of marshalling again next year and give something back.
“Last year the weather was a total disaster but this year it was very good.”
