SOMERSET'S famous landscapes were celebrated during World Wetlands Day on Saturday.

The county's levels and moors, which stretch from the Mendip Hills near Cheddar to Bridgwater bay, the Severn Estuary and The Avon Valley are just some of the eight designated wetlands in the South West.

World Wetlands Day celebrates the convention on wetlands, which was signed in Iran in 1971, and is a treaty to promote the conservation of the landscape.
