Members of St Martin's Church in Worle hope to get together a total of £5,000 towards building a church in Ndeke, Zambia. So far the parishioners have raised nearly £4,100.

Among the fund-raising activities held in the area was a gala concert staged at St Martin's Junior School in Spring Hill, Worle, in memory of Reverend Prebendary Neville Kent.

Rev Kent, supported the Ndeke congregation for many years before he died and it was one of his chosen charities.

The 66-year-old was the team rector of the ecumenical parish of Worle for 17 years and was also the mayor's chaplain.
