‘Good quality’ library and children’s centre services will still be provided in Worle when they merge on Monday, a senior councillor has said.

Libraries and children’s centres across the district have merged as North Somerset Council hoped to save £500,000 by 2019.

A petition was launched to keep Worle Library open, but it has now moved into the refurbished children’s centre site in Mendip Avenue.

The building, called Worle Library and Children’s Centre, will open at 9.30am on Monday.

Felicity Baker, who is responsible for library services, said: “A key focus of the review has always been to continue to provide good quality services in our local communities at a price we can afford.

“In Worle we have been able to do this by refurbishing the children’s centre building to create a community hub offering both library and children’s centre services.”
