‘Potential buyer’ found for Worle’s old library

A potential buyer for Worle’s old library building may have been found.
The building, in The Maltings, was put up for sale by North Somerset Council last year, with a £300,000 asking price.
It followed the authority’s community access review, where it aimed to save £500,000 from its libraries and children’s centres by 2019.
As a result of the review, Worle Library closed, and moved into the children’s centre in Mendip Avenue.
A council document, provided to the community and corporate organisation scrutiny panel on Tuesday, said: “There is a potential buyer for the old Worle Library and appropriate legal checks are currently underway.”
It is a single-storey building with an open-plan floor space, office, toilet and staff room.
Estate agent documents say the site could be suitable for a range of uses or redevelopment, subject to planning consent.
