Worle's library will close today (Friday) ahead of it moving to the nearby children's centre building.

The library, in The Maltings, is closing as part of North Somerset community access review, which aims to save £500,000 by 2019.

Its books will move to the children’s centre in Mendip Avenue, which is expected to open on August 14.

Alterations have already been made to the building to allow the library to be moved in, but customers will be able to borrow books for a longer period of time while the work is completed.

Its opening hours will be 9.30am-5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, and 9.30am-1pm on Saturdays.

Opening hours could be extended later this year when new technology called Open+ is installed.

It will provide a self-service swipe card system so the library can be accessed when it would usually be closed.

The existing library building will go on the market valued at £300,000.
