TWO Worle licensees have beaten off stiff competition to be short-listed for a top award.

Mike Flaun and Clare Henderson who run The Observatory in Becket Road have found out they have reached the final six in at least one of the 12 categories in Marston's Pub Company 2007 Awards.

Mike and Clare, who trumped more than 2,000 other pubs across the country, said: "We have worked very hard over the last 12 months to deliver the very best service for customers old and new."

The awards, which are now in their sixth year, recognise licensee's achievements in a range of categories including best bar person, family pub, best food, best refurbishment and pub of the year.

Mike and Clare are due to travel to the glittering awards ceremony at Alton Towers on October 11 when they will find out which categories they have been short-listed for and how they did.
