A Worle woman has been named Miss Bristol.

Leona Pritchard beat competition from five others to win the beauty pageant and has become a semi-finalist for Miss England.

The 23-year-old will compete with other regional winners for a spot at the national title on July 3.

She took part in the 30-mile Mendip Challenge hike on Saturday, raising money for Weston Hospicecare.

Leona will also raise funds for Beauty With a Purpose, which provides humanitarian projects across the globe
for children, and she aims to climb Mount Snowdon next month.

Leona said: “I am delighted to have won and want to thank everyone who voted for me.

“During my time as Miss Bristol, I want to make the most of it and make a big impact in the South West.

“I want to help others reach their goals to raise money for causes which are important to them and the community.”
