Pupils at a Worlebury school did something a little different from their usual PE lessons before the summer holidays began, and raised thousands of pounds for charity in the process.

The children who attend Worlebury St Paul’s Primary School, in Woodspring Avenue, took part in a Race For Life run for Cancer Research UK.

Race For Life takes place around the country every year to raise money for vital cancer research.

The school held its own event this year, where the youngsters ran 713km in total when all their races were added together.

A school spokesman said: “The children were amazing.

“Thank you for supporting your children and to all the people who have sponsored the event.

“A final total will be confirmed once all money has been handed in.

“At the moment the total is near £2,500 with more money to count.”
