A Weston-super-Mare play park could receive a £14,000 upgrade.

Weston Town Council is responsible for maintaining the park in Wyvern Close.

It is in the process of improving play areas, and Wyvern Close could be next on the list.

The council is asking for expressions of interest from experienced companies which could provide a multi-play unit and resurface the park.

Its budget is £14,000, and firms must demonstrate how the funding will be spent and include designs.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by August 3, and work must start by November.

The council’s investment programme has included opening a new play area in Worle, in Lynch Farm.

It also intends to build a new park in Canberra Road, at a cost of £90,000.

Town clerk Malcolm Nicholson previous told the Mercury: “Outdoor play is essential for children’s social and personal wellbeing.”
