A Christmas carol concert in Yatton was the talk of the village on Saturday, after families and friends wrapped up warm to enjoy some festive cheer.

The event was organised by the Yeo Valley Lions Club, which hosts the concert every year at the shopping precinct in High Street.

It was unaffected by improvement works taking place to the shops at the precinct, which stopped the village’s traditional Christmas lights switch-on from taking place at the start of December.

This year, the Lions were supported by the Clevedon Salvation Army Band, while the service itself was led by ministers from the village’s Anglican and Methodist churches.

The Spotlight Sparklers choir from Yatton Federated Schools – which recently won the top prize at Weston’s Grand Pier’s carol-singing competition – also performed.

The choir consists of pupils in years three and four at the High Street school.
