A MOTHER who depends on her car to transport her terminally ill son is devastated after she was one of around 50 people who had her tyres slashed. The car was parked outside Beverly Martin's home in Mendip Avenue in a disabled bay when the two tyres facing the roadside were slashed. Beverly said: "It is just sick. I rely on my car to take my 13-year-old son to hospital. I have to take him almost every day.""I don't know how long I have left with my son and he is getting worse. A support worker was coming to the house so I could go shopping for the children's Christmas presents, but now I have to wait for my car to be fixed. I just hope I have time to go. "Last Christmas my mother died suddenly, so I wanted to make this year special."Beverly's son Adam is ill with a rare brain tumour. He had part of the tumour removed but it has now spread around his spinal cord. Adam needs a wheelchair, along with constant medical care and hospital visits.Adam attends Worle Community School when he is well, but missed most of his year seven classes because he was too ill to attend. Now in year eight, Adam tries to attend school when he can. The family was alerted to the slashed tyres on Tuesday morning (Dec 12), after Neighbourhood Watch member Ken Crane noticed the car while walking his dog.Beverly had to give up her job in sales in July to look after Adam full time. She said: "I was so upset when he told me. Whoever has done this needs to realise what they are doing to people. I hope the police catch whoever did this."Adam lives at home with his mum and his brother Ashley, aged 17, and his eight-year-old sister Amisha. The youngster had a hospital appointment for a blood check on the morning of the incident, but thankfully the hospital was able to provide transport for him. The police received a number of calls about tyre slashing incidents between Monday evening and Tuesday morning and believe between 40 and 50 cars were damaged. The areas affected include Worle Parkway railway station, Appletree Court, Old Bristol Road, Silverberry Road, Mendip Avenue, Brangwyn Square and Moor Lane.
