THE next generation of Somerset cricketers hope to be a step above the rest after receiving coaching from the professionals last weekend.

Children from Winscombe Cricket Club got professional coaching and watch Somerset’s game against Durham, which Somerset won by five wickets.

Chairman of the club Peter Searle arranged the session as part of Thatchers Cider’s partnership with Somerset County Cricket, he said: “Our youngsters really benefitted from using the club’s facilities and having excellent professional coaching from the experts.”

Thatchers’ managing director Martin Thatcher said: “Being able to involve our local community in activities such as this is a key part of both Somerset’s and our own ethos.”
