THREE budding Picassos will have their work framed and presented at a glittering festive ceremony later this month.

Jasmine Ash of Mead Vale Primary School won the age category for years five and six, Mendip Green First School pupil Chloe Cox bagged the top spot for years two, three and four and Michael Hanson of Becket Primary School won the category for reception and year one in the town council's 'design a light' competition.

The town's mayor, John Ley Morgan, will be presenting the trio with its own framed, winning designs and they will officially be unveiled in the Italian Gardens when the town's Christmas lights are switched on.

The ceremony will take place on November 24 from 5pm and Weston Brass and the Wayfarers Drama Group will be performing Christmas carols. Father Christmas and his elves will be making an appearance and there will even be some snow.

On the night, there will also be a chance to support Weston Hospicecare's Tree of Light Appeal, which is supported by the Weston & Somerset Mercury, by dedicating a light to a missed loved one.
