IT WAS the perfect start to the new year for two football mad youngsters when they proudly escorted their favourite team onto the pitch last weekend.

Aston Villa fans Harry and Jack Hill walked alongside their sporting heroes onto the turf at Villa Park on Saturday as the official mascots for the day.

The seven-year-old twins, who live in Upper Church Road, Weston and go to Walliscote Primary School, had their names put on the mascot list back in October. Their parents Bob and Faye received a phone call last month to say there had been a cancellation and would the youngsters be interested in carrying out the honour when they played Manchester United in the FA Cup fixture.

Harry is the main Aston Villa fan and received his first kit at the age of four. Although Jack is also a supporter he is more interested in music and was featured in the Weston & Somerset Mercury when he set world records for being such a young DJ.
