PLANS for a new skatepark in Locking are accelerating following a positive response from the village’s youngsters.

A plot of land has been identified for a potential facility, and the site has already been looked at by a company which may build it.

Locking Parish Council member Christine Newey first announced the plans in March, and said she has had an enthusiastic response from teenagers who would use the skatepark. The proposed triangle of land where the park would stand lies between the A371 and Old Banwell Road.

Cllr Newey said: “I think this would be a great facility for teenagers in the village as there isn’t that much for teenagers to do at the moment. When you add the new development at Locking Parklands, there are certainly lots of youngsters who would use a skatepark.”
