YOUNGSTERS got the chance to get in an air ambulance and get hands on with the team when crews made a landing for the school’s children.

Great Western Air Ambulance landed in Weston Golf Club’s practice green, giving children from Westhaven School the chance to get on board and meet the helicopter’s crew.

The crew spent an hour on the ground with youngsters before an emergency called the team away.

Simon Fisher, chairman of the governors at the school in Ellesmere Road, Uphill, said: “It was a great opportunity for the children to see the air ambulance and the fact a real life emergency happened made it so much more exciting.”
