YOUNGSTERS were delighted when they scooped an award in Weston Film Festival’s Short Film competition.

Two former pupils of the Kings of Wessex Academy were part of a quartet who made a film entitled Dead Meat.

Charlotte Coggins and Helen Bennett, both former pupils of the school in Cheddar’s Station Road, took on the roles of artistic director and director respectively.

The short movie was all about the effort involved in getting fresh produce to create meals after a village’s local supermarket closed – although ironically, it was set in Cheddar, where two supermarkets are currently looking to open.
