THE Weston & Somerset Mercury has won a prestigious national award for its strong links with the community.The newspaper was picked from dozens of newspapers across Britain for the title of Community Newspaper of the Year in the weekly paid-for category of the Newspaper Society's annual Circulation, Editorial & Promotions Awards.The Mercury was also presented with a Highly Commended certificate in the Best Single-Copy Sales Initiative for its 2006 Mum's the Word Mother's Day supplement. The glittering awards ceremony was held in Birmingham on March 22nd
