A YOUTH cafe could be opened in Nailsea in a bid to improve life for teenagers living in the town.The plan for a cafe is one of a package of recommendations being put forward by North Somerset Council's children and young people policy and scrutiny panel.The panel has spent the past eight months looking at facilities in the town and talking on how they can be improved to make life brighter for the teen population.Suggestions being put forward also include: * Improving Scotch Horn Leisure Centre to make it more accessible and attractive for teenagers by providing more non sports related activities* Reviewing admission charges for young people to the local authority leisure centres* Launching a young person's discounted travel card and improving public transport links to and from Nailsea* Securing funding for the Street Project for at least five years* Extending the opening hours of Nailsea Youth House to include weekends and summer holidaysFunding for improvements could be earmarked from a pot of £98,000 left over from 106 planning agreements for developments in the town.The panel has put together the recommendations over 10 months and they will now go to North Somerset Council executive member for young people for consideration.During its investigation the group spoke to members of the public, professionals and young people to gather information about how Nailsea could be improved for the younger generation.
