ATHLETES were out in force for the Clevedon Four Mile Boxing Day race. Clevedon Athletic Club has organised the race since 1977 and it attracts around 1,000 competitors.Ben Noade beat the other 946 entries and won the race in 18 minutes 43 seconds. Second place went to last year's winner James Thie, who finished in 19 minutes 18 seconds. The first woman across the finish line was Kate Reed who finished in tenth place in 20 minutes 15 seconds. The race started at 11am at Old Church Road, looped round the town, passing The Triangle and Holly Lane and then ended back at the starting line. The record time for the race is held by Ian Gillespie, who completed it in 18 minutes 28 seconds back in 1997.
