WESTON’S captain Gavin Simpson made his 150th first team appearance when he led his team to victory against Brixham at the Recreation Ground last Saturday.
Weston-born Simpson, aged 31, was educated at Churchill School from where he played for Somerset at 18 group level. But before that, the flanker had joined the Seasiders’ Under-16 squad and he eventually became a permanent member of the Colts’ back row.
He duly progressed to senior level, making his first team debut as a replacement at Blackheath in the opening match of the 2000/01 season.
Four weeks later he made his full appearance in the home match against Plymouth Albion. So far, he has scored 11 tries.
