A 14-year-old from Congresbury Bowling Club has been crowned under-18 player of the year by Somerset Bowls Association.
Madi King followed up her success by being a finalist in the county under-25 ladies singles competition and together with 14-year-old Katy Taylor were finalists in the under-25 ladies pairs.
Both girls are members of Somerset’s under-31 Ladies team, who bowled their way to become the 2021 National winners of the Amy Rose championship.
In addition King has become one of the youngest girls to play for Somerset County in the John’s Trophy team.
Sponsored by Debbie Fortune Estate, Congresbury Juniors Team duo King and Taylor’s success will no doubt inspire the other members to continue to improve.
Any youngster, preferably aged eight and above, who would like to try bowls will be very welcome and can contact us at conbcsec@gmail.com.
