Lympsham & Belvedere claimed an emphatic win over Frome seconds in their latest Somerset League outing.

Put into bat, George Nuttycombe and Mike Hosey got them off to a positive start with regular boundaries to keep the scoring rate ticking over.

Nuttcombe (28) fell with the score on 63 bowled by a ball that kept low but Jack Luff joined Hosey and the pair continued to apply pressure to the visitors attack.

Luff looked in great form, racing to 35 before he was bowled round his legs with the score on 128, and Hosey continued to rotate strike at ease to reach a fine half century as L&B looked to set a challenging target.

Jamie Howson (39) immediately set about the bowling, hitting boundaries at will before he was trapped leg before, and Dave Luff made a quickfire 20 before he was well caught at long-on.

Sam McCrea continued his excellent form from previous weeks as he launched a savage attack on the tiring Frome bowlers, scoring 41 off 25 balls before he was well caught at point.

Neil Chadwick (1) fell in the last over, as Hosey finished unbeaten on 83, hitting 12 boundaries, in a 45-over total of 286-6.

Frome soon lost their captain R Potter (4) as he cut to Howson at gully off CJ Neate, while McCrea (0-14) applied pressure.

Neate reaped the rewards as J Cantrell (4) chipped to mid-off where Dave Luff took a good low catch and A Veal (15) was trapped leg before.

Neate (4-31) also bowled R Brown (4) with a fine away swinger, while Taylor (0-30) bowled well without luck.

Tom Gooding bowled J Barrow (10) and S Wheeler (8) in quick succession, then added the scalp of G Hayford Taylor (44) to leave Frome 106 for 7.

N Asim (0) was bowled by Chadwick and Gooding (4-34) bowled S Ford (0) in a lively spell, before Chadwick (2-5) had A Lawrence-Berkley (9) leg before wicket to end the Frome innings on 117.

The Lympsham Concrete man of the match award went to Hosey, who said: "I enjoyed batting today, all the boys contributed to an excellent batting total."

Howson added: "I felt in great form, it's a shame I missed a straight one as I think I might have been on for a big score."

Gooding said: "My bowling is going well at the moment; I'm bowling very straight and putting the opposition batsmen under lots of pressure."

And Neate added: "I'm continuing to take wickets up front which always helps the team, Sam is keeping it tight which means teams are looking to attack at my end."
