Weston Under-14s defeated Midsomer Norton to reach the next round of the Somerset Cup.
Weston Under-14s faced Midsomer Norton for this third time this season and came out on top in this Somerset Cup match.
Weston controlled most of the first-half and scored 26 unanswered points. The first try came from Harry Strutt, converted by Keelan Hodges-Swales. Dominic Marshall was next on the scoresheet with a try that was the culmination of a good move by the backs.
From the restart, Weston’s made progress through the middle of the pitch with Brooklyn Chamberlain using his strength to shrug off a number of tackles to score under the posts. Hodges-Swales popped the conversion over.
Kyron Pearce scored the fourth try with a typically powerful run up the wing, with Hodges-Swales kicking the conversion.
In the second half, Midsomer Norton had plenty of possession and managed to score a converted try after five minutes, soon followed by another try by the hosts.
The visitors replied with their final try scored by Hodges-Swales, with the conversion kicked by Lewis Patterson, to make the final score 33-12.
Jack Press made some well-judged decisions at scrum-half, while Toby Maleham was again dominant at the breakdown, but the man of the match award went to Dominic Marshall.
