THIS was the moment Weston’s players and fans learned their FA Cup fate at the Woodspring Stadium last night (Mon).
There was standing room only in the Sportsman Bar as the crowd eagerly awaited the first round draw live on BBC 2, where in front of the nation Mickey Bell’s side were paired with League One Doncaster.
There were two cheers on the night as Weston learned they had secured a money-spinning home draw, and then that they would face league opposition for the first time in more than a decade.
Bell declared himself delighted with the ‘fantastic draw’ on the night, in a cup run which has already seen Weston’s coffers swelled by £24,500, a figure which could rise substantially if the Seagulls can secure a sellout crowd, or even a visit from the BBC or BT Sport cameras.
