Weston were soundly beaten at Bridgwater, going down by 124 runs.

WESTON travelled to Bridgwater in front of a large crowd, but were unable to get back to winning ways.

Batting first, Bridgwater got off to a flying start as Hallaran was in brutal form. However, the introduction of Andy Fear saw Windsor well caught by Ahmed at second slip.

Shortly after, Tom Court removed Hallaran for a quick 41, as Ahmed took another sharp catch. Fear, with support from Stringer, gradually pegged the home side back. Vickery edged Stringer behind before Willoughby returned to remove Steffan Jones leaving Bridgwater on 96-4 at 26 overs.

Stuart Butt (83) dug in to take Bridgwater to the final 15 overs and from here they took full control of the game. Butt and Davis took on the bowlers and both cleared the ropes.

Willoughby eventually removed Butt thanks to a fourth catch for Ahmed, but Davis continued to bludgeon the ball to all parts. Trego and Williams both picked up run outs as Bridgwater finished their innings on 264-7.

With the Somerset seconds opening partnership of Montgomery and Skidmore leading the attack, Weston were up against it from the off, with Ahmed losing his off stump and John Davidson driving to point.

John Williams was able to make the most of the excellent wicket and he scored freely as he went to his 50. At 55-2, Weston still looked in the game but when Stringer and Williams were spectacularly caught by keeper Windsor in successive overs, the pressure built.

Jones bowled a hostile spell and picked up the wicket of Fear, before Trego and Chris Davidson steadied the ship with a 60-run partnership. After looking fluent, Trego mistimed the leg-spin of Barratt to cover to fall for 47 and the same bowler had Davidson (16) lbw soon after. With this, the innings was quickly wrapped up as Weston fell all out for 140.

The IntouchCRM man of the match was Andy Fear for an excellent spell of bowling in perfect batting conditions.

Weston travel to Bath on Saturday needing to get back to winning ways.
