The ummer Lane Carp Cup proved to be a great success with around £600 going to charity.

THE Summer Lane Carp Cup proved to be a great success with David Ayres running out the winner with 78lb 6ozs.

Ayres, on peg 10, was into the fish straight from the off, while Nathan James was two hours late due to another match, but he started off with the usual double take, putting him straight into second place.

Adrian House (peg 1) could only fish for a couple of hours, but had limited success. Andrew Konsounmis (peg 4) worked hard to finish third place with 23lbs. Dave Humphries (peg 18) fought in vain for fourth place with 11lb 10ozs.

Wildcard winner Nick Daglish (peg 7) finished fifth place with 7lb 7oz. Resident bailiff Paul Swain (peg 13) forgot his pole, but still finished sixth with 5lb 12ozs.

The fight for second place between Konsounmis and James lasted till the end, with Nathan (peg 11) finishing second with 25lb 10oz.
