Hutton girls Under-14s defeated Backwell 7-1 to move up the league table.

HUTTON girls Under-14s travelled to Backwell hoping for a win to push them up the table.

In the early exchanges Hutton struggled to break past Backwell’s defensive line and were constantly caught offside until Rachael Curtis was put free by Meg Lewis’ cross and fired Hutton into a deserved lead. Shortly afterwards Curtis was again in behind the Backwell defence and doubled the lead.

The girls continued dominate as the midfield duo of Lauryn Nigh and Hannah Worley were first to all the loose balls to feed wingers Danni Williams and Anya Lawrence.

The second half continued to be all Hutton as their defence of Eva Ferdinando and Nicole Badman gave Chloe Woods in the Hutton goal an easy time.

Tia Craig finished another good move to score the third of the game. This was shortly followed by Williams’ first goal for the club before Worley broke through to slot home the fifth.

Backwell pulled a goal back before Georgia Ferdinando fired in two late goals to give Hutton a 7-1 victory.

Silvermoor Interiors player of the game was jointly awarded to Meg Lewis and Eva Ferdinando.

The Under-12s travelled to Mangotsfield in extremely difficult conditions with torrential rain and strong winds preventing their usual smooth passing game.

Mangotsfield attacked at the outset and Hutton’s Eilidh Paterson, Megan Williams and Paige Nigh did well to keep their hosts at bay.

Debutant Lauren Wall had an outstanding game on the right wing and gave Hutton the lead midway through the first half.

Hutton’s midfield of Mel Heath, Liv Worley and Charlotte Lewis battled well, but the goal spurred Mangotsfield into extra effort and they equalised just before the break, with a long-range effort that beat Kerri Townsend in the Hutton goal.

The second half was spoiled by the elements with both sides giving it all to try and win the game. With Amelia Seaton and Kacey Allen striving hard, Hutton nearly snatched victory when Ellie Burrows almost scored.

McDonalds Weston player of the game was awarded to debutant Lauren Wall.
