Burnham keep up the pressure at the top

BURNHAM United Under-15s kept the pressure on top of the table Portishead after a convincing 5-0 victory over local rivals Burnbridge.

Burnham had most of the play in the first-half, but lacked any end product until the persistent threat of Rosser made it 1-0.

Not for the first time, Burnham were much better in the second half with Durrant superb at the back stopping any threat from Burnbridge. After several half-chances, United went 2-0 up via Harding.

The third goal was created by some good work by Jeffereys who found fellow striker Rosser for an easy finish. The fourth goal was scored by centre half White with an unstoppable header.

White almost got a second goal for Burnhams fifth, but had to be put down as an own goal. Rosser was a close runner-up for man of the match, but the Barrington and Son Solicitors man of the match went to Kyle Durrant.

WESTON Town Under-11s continued their recent good form with a 6-1 victory over Berrow.

Sharp started in midfield and made some important tackles in a scrappy opening. Weston took the lead after a lovely pass put Mogg through and he finished with style.

The goal settled Weston and they doubled their lead after Pratt beat the keeper with a good finish.

Marshall went close to adding a third when his shot hit the crossbar. Berrow, however, gave themselves a lifeline with a goal on the stroke of half-time.

Berrow started the second half strongly and only some excellent keeping by Chamberlain prevented them equalising. Weston broke with pace and scored after Marshall unselfishly passed to Mogg to tap in.

Berrow kept pushing forward and Swires, Grimes and Silcott had to work hard to protect their lead. Manaton and Large combined well once again leading to a fourth goal as Large gave the keeper no chance.

Mogg and Maidment linked well on the right and a fine cross allowed Marshall to add a fifth. Murphy showed a great range of passing throughout the game and his pass allowed Mogg to cross once again for Marshall to finish after the keeper parried.

Man of the match went to Mogg.

The Under-15s produced a superb performance to defeat Priory 6-1 on the Worle 3G Astro.

Early on Priory hit the post, but Weston hit back when Rico Cannella crossed to Kristian Bell, who tucked away the opener. Weston were soon two up when Dan Berry was fouled in the area and the spot kick was netted by Bell for his second.

Defensively Weston were playing well and any attack from Priory was halted by the impressive midfield of Jake Marshman and Jamie Ramplin. Weston increased their lead when the ball was hammered into the net by Berry.

The second half saw Priory change formations and they asked a few questions of the weston defence. However, the centre half pairing of Jack Hockey and Alfie Hardy stood up to the challenge.

Weston then added a fourth when Hockey hit a superb free kick into the top corner. Priory grabbed a consolation from the spot, but Weston added to the scoring again when Bell completed his hat-trick.

The goal of the game came when a long ball bounced up invitingly on the edge of the area and Berry duly dispatched an unstoppable shot into the far corner.

The Cove Restaurant man of the match award went to Jake Marshman.

MILTON Nomads Under-12s won 2-1 away in a hard fought battle against Kewstoke Juniors.

Kewstoke started well with some strong attacks resulting in some good saves by Nomads’ keeper Charlie Woodards. Kewstoke opened the scoring after missing an earlier penalty, before Nomads got into their stride.

George Harris-Aucott and Jacob Flavell linked well with George Darch up front for Nomads and it was Darch who got the equaliser with a good shot. Strong work by the Nomads’ midfield of Cai Williams, Lewis Milkins, Olly Cunningham, Harry Spencer and Dean Chrisostomou kept pushing Nomads forward and they were rewarded when Chrisostomou forced home Nomads’ second to lead 2-1 at half-time.

Nomads maintained their composure and a strong defensive line with Woodards in goal and defenders Lewis Barber, Tyler Pooley, Harry Little, Jack Rickwood and George Fulcher held firm against some fierce Kewstoke pressure.

Woodards made further excellent saves and despite some late pressure from Kewstoke, Nomads held on to win 2-1 to re-inforce their top position in Division 2. Trilec Comms Services man of the match was Charlie Woodards.

WORLE Under-14s bounced back in from last week’s defeat with a solid performance against Swiss Valley Rangers.

Sam Walkley had an easy game between the posts, having to make one save all match as Worle had the majority of possession. With Lucas on the bench, Connor took on the captain’s armband.

Sam’s clearance fell to a Swiss player and his shot was brilliantly cleared off the line by Mitch. Lucas was introduced and made an immediate impact. He entered the box for a return pass but his shot went wide.

Hugh broke down the right, played the ball into Lucas. His pass found Connor to scoring the opening goal.

After the break, a neat throw-in from Ben saw a lovely turn into the box by Lucas and his sweet strike hit the top corner to seal victory.

Trowbridge Plumbing and Heating man of the match was shared between Mitch and Josh Makin.

WESTON Crusaders Under-12s got off to a great start against Clevedon United and this paid off after six minutes.

Brandon Smith opened the scoring and soon after this was doubled when a penalty was awarded and Thomas Hyland calmly slotted the ball home. Five minutes later Smith doubled his tally making the score 3-0, at the break.

The second half started off well with a lot of good attractive play by both sides. The defence of Nathan, Reece, Sam, Fergie and Sonny were solid, but were broken down when Clevedon scored twice to make it 3-2.

The midfield of Ty, Thomas, Szymon, Oggie and Patch played well and Clarke in goal made a few good saves, while Walsh and Petch played their part up front.

Man of the match went to Thomas Hyland.
