Hornets’ first try of the afternoon came after a break by Jordy Kirk was well supported by Joe Smith, who took an inside pass to score. Slick handling and direct running then freed up Arthur Rousell to register the second try.

Their third try was a carbon copy of their first, although this time Smith was stopped just short, but he was able to find Ben Resiegh who touched down. Centre Adam Francis was next on the scoresheet with a fine try. Francis converted three of the tries to put Hornets 26 points to the good at the break.

Hornets rang the changes at the interval, but the quality remained and it was not long before Sam Balkham was crossing the whitewash. Their next try was beauty, a powerful break by Alex Colborne and a deft offload found Louis Symiakos to score.

Craig Nicholls added Hornets’ seventh try and John Xanh wrapped up the try scoring when he timed his run to perfection off centre Conor Littlewood’s pass.
