A TRIO of young football fans struck a blow for equality this week, when they became the first all-girl group to officiate in a Woodspring Junior League cup final.
Referee Sophie Freeman and assistant referees Isobel Ferris and Lucie Skinner took charge of the league’s under-11 knockout cup decider.
On the field, the match saw Portishead Juniors edge a hard-fought encounter with a penalty shoot-out win over Weston Crusaders.
A league spokesman said: “All three officials performed very well throughout the match. Congratulations go to all three ladies.”
