Yatton fail to take their chances, going down 30-3 at home to Keynsham.

IN BLUSTERY conditions, both teams started the game in positive fashion.

With the wind in their favour, Yatton used the boot to achieve field position while Keynsham kept the ball in hand, using their backs to attack from deep.

Keynsham took the lead in the 14th minute when they were awarded a penalty on the halfway line. Taken quickly, Keynsham shipped the ball to winger Smith who beat his opposite number before passing for centre Harwood to score. The conversion was missed.

Yatton pinned Keynsham back in their own half and this pressure was rewarded with a penalty, which Osborne converted.

Yatton continued to dominate the game, forcing the Keynsham lock into killing the ball resulting in a yellow card. Unfortunately, they were unable to press home the man advantage.

Keynsham weathered the storm and when back to full complement, were awarded a penalty just before half-time and took the three points.

The start of the second half saw Yatton pushing Keynsham back, but were held up just short of the line.

After this, Keysham controlled the game. The half-backs kicked for the position and from a line-out in the Yatton 22, the Keynsham No 8 was able to score in the corner.

Both sides made substitutions but Keynsham raised the tempo of the match and started looking to attack at every opportunity. Their prop crashed over for try and their winger was on the end of a clever cross kick to score the fourth try and seal the game.

Yatton cannot be faulted for the effort and it is clear that a confidence building win would make all the difference to the team.
