WITH their only shot on target, Cardiff got an undeserved draw against a Weston side who were denied by some excellent goalkeeping.

Time after time, especially in the first half, Jordan Santiago denied a rampant Weston attack with a display of acrobatics that kept his team in the game which saw Weston force 11 corners.

On 10 minutes, Nabi Diallo, who had a storming game playing in the hole behind the attack, was just over and minutes later, Santiago denied Kane Ingram before Nat Pepperall ended a good move involving Mike Mackay and Diallo by firing over.

Ingram was just over the Cardiff crossbar with a lob from the edge of the penalty area before Santiago flung himself to his left to turn another Diallo effort over his bar.

Weston kept pressure up in the second half, forcing another corner and then Jak Martin was narrowly over from distance. The goal came on 57 minutes when Jamie Price made a superb mazy run into the Cardiff penalty area, beating several defenders before firing across Santiago.

Weston forced another four corners, but a mix-up in the defence on 77 minutes allowed Ibrahim Farah to fire past Lloyd Irish.

There was an unfortunate incident a minute from the end when Cardiff’s Jesse Darko clashed with Martin Slocombe in which Slocombe received three stitches for a gash on his forehead and Darko was shown a red card by Gloucester referee Tom Blanch.

Weston squad: Irish, Price, Slocombe, Trowbridge, Villis, Martin, Ingram, Kirk, Mackay, Diallo, Pepperall, Booth, Huxley, Young, Grubb, Kabba, Mawford, Bennett, Callum Laird, Maggs.

Weston play their final pre-season game on Thursday when they travel to Yate Town (7.45pm).
