WESTON Tennis Club and club coach Michael Rakosi staged its latest set of junior tournaments.

Two junior boys’ weekend events for the Over-13 and Under-13 age groups were held in ideal tennis weather conditions in a round robin tournament.

In a well-attended event, Lewis Taylor (14) defeated James Connolly 7-6, 6-3. Lewis held his nerve in an exciting tie-break with some fine stroke play from both players to give him the momentum against James, who fought hard to the end.

The round robin format was followed for the Under-13 event and after some exciting matches, Blake Williams (11) won the event totalling six sets, whilst runner-up Keane Williams (11) scored a total of four sets.

Club chairman, Bob Wilson said: “I was delighted to see such competitive, but sporting play and all the juniors are progressing well. The club is keen to expand the coaching scheme to more young players of all standards, including beginners, throughout the Weston area.

“This was just the latest part of an exciting programme of junior tennis that will continue to be rolled out throughout the autumn and winter for both boys and girls.“
