THAI BOXING - FOLLOWING on from his knockout success on his MMA cage fight debut at Knuckle Up 1 staged at Kudos in Wells, local fighter Kade Sherlock travelled to Southampton for a professional Muay Thai bout, fighting Rich Harding for the King Borai Muay Thai English title.

Both men traded big punches, knees and kicks for three rounds, but in the end Harding, who has a record of five wins in Muay Thai fights proved no match for Kade and succumbed to a solid body shot to the ribs in the fourth round from which he failed to recover and his corner threw in the towel.

The English title adds to Kade's growing number of local and national titles including a Southern Area title in Kickboxing.

Kade started training at the age of 10 with Malcolm Burt and Jamie Durston in Cheddar, later transferring to the Combat Gym in Weston at the age of 16, training under Soke Master Kevin Ludick in the art of Shin Tai Kickboxing in which he now holds the ranking of Black Belt 2nd Dan. More recently he has been training in Muay Thai Boxing, a martial art style from Thailand.

Always a respectful and dedicated student, he has recently gained instructor qualification and is passing on his skills to the younger members of the gym.

Proud trainer Kevin Ludick said: "I am now looking at a British title fight for Kade in the near future with a possible European title challenge on the cards. He is a highly respected student and fighter, both within our club and throughout the martial arts community. Since he is still only 21 years old, I believe he has the potential to go all the way to the top.

Combat Gym is located on the Weston Europark, Winterstoke Road, Weston, with training in Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Ju Jitsu, traditional Boxing and Karate available from five years old.
