Manger Ben Dancey says Worle can beat anyone in the Uhlsport Somerset League Premier Division starting with Keynsham Town Reserves this Saturday.

The Recreation Ground-based side opened their season with a 1-1 draw with Middlezoy Rovers before a 2-1 win over Watchet Town, after Chris Taylor scored twice in the last 10 minutes.

Keynsham kickstart a busy week for Worle, who face their first trip this campaign to Fry Club three days later.

And Dancey believes his side can continue their unbeaten start to the campaign and come away with another three points.

“They are always a good side, Keynsham,” he told Weston Mercury Sport.

“It’s a weird one because they are a reserve side because their first team are in the Toolstation but they are like a separate club.

“They don’t get players dropping down so they are always a good outfit and last year I think we drew with them here then beat them 4-1 away.

“They will always give you a game, they're a typical Bristol-based side. They will be competitive, physical and they will battle but I think we can beat anyone in this league.

“That’s what I’m looking at. I’m not afraid of anyone and now we are two unbeaten we want to go three. I want to go to Frys and win, then I want to win in the Cup (against Stockwood Wanderers).

"The boys are all driven. It feels so different here this year so I’m looking forward to it.”

This season will be Dancey’s second in charge after arriving at the club last summer, where he took over from Aaron Blakemore.

And with 20 members in the squad Dancey believes there is something special within the club.

“For the last three, four years we haven’t had a full pre-season with Covid and change of managers, it’s been tough,” he added.

“Last year we came in quite late on Barry (Flynn) and myself and this year we have had a real good blast at it. We have had a really long pre-season and we are fit and we haven’t been fit for years.

“We’ve always seemed to run out of legs and this year we've really, really worked the boys hard in pre-season. I think that’s paying dividends going on to win a game (against Watchet) like that late on.

“The atmosphere is different because we are fitter and sometimes that gets your through. If we can run and work harder than any other teams, especially in our league, you always pick up results.

“The atmosphere just feels so different down here this year and long may it continue.”
