Brean captain Pete Barton, alongside Ladies and Seniors Captains, Bev and John Cranley, hosted a successful Charity Day raising funds for The Trussell Trust on Saturday.

The day was boosted the funds by around £1,500 when all the money had been collected from the various activities on the day.

Winners of the golf competition was the team named Wenglish which consisted of Clive Goode, Dave Glasby, Phil Barry and Nigel Ellis.

With two scores to count on each hole and all four to count on the par three holes they returned a total of 110 which won by a single point.

Runners-up were the Brean Seniors team led by the aforementioned Captain Cranley and he was joined by Brian Reeves, Brian Read and Tim Amy to the second place prize.

In third was Chimps Army who took advantage of the double points hole on the 11th green to boost their score.

The quartet of Dave Bradley, John Cullinan, Leighton Jenkins and Head Greenkeeper Max Smith relegated a team of long standing supporters of the event into fourth with their 107 total.

The Yeh Putt, No Putt, Yeh Putt team of Brean's Chris Fairchild and Gordy Wheelaghan with Burnham duo of Graham Lewis and Steve Solomon won a countback for fourth on 106.

The countback rules were required to separate the top two in the Super Series Stableford on Sunday.

Both Keith Sargeant and Tony Higgins tied on 42 points and both players covered each half in 21 so it was down to the back six to decide the winner.

Higgins prevailed to head the Division Two scorecaharts as well ahead of Sargeant. In third was Bob Pelzer, with 39, edging out Dave Mann on another countback.

Division One was won with a score of 41 points courtesy of Barry Roe's impressive return.

He avoided a countback as he was one clear of Kevin Griffiths but Mark Jenkins required one to secure third on 39 over Steve Bateman and Zak Jones.

Isla Jones cruised her way to 45 stableford points in the alternate day on Sunday and with it a victory in the September Ladies Stableford.

She won by four points from Shirley Marlow who returned a score of 41 in the damp conditions of Tuesday morning.

Fiona Dobson took third in her competitive debut at Brean beating Millie Jones on a countback on 37.
