Will Burns brought the curtain down on his 2022 season with a sensational maiden overall podium finish in the GT4 European Series finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain recently.

Burns and team-mate Berkay Besler produced one of the most eye-catching drives of the season as they incredibly stormed through from 30th on the grid to third in just an hour of racing..

The opening race on Saturday afternoon saw the duo producing a heroic performance.

Besler started behind the wheel first and superbly gained seven places on the opening lap, before moving into the top 20 within the opening 10 minutes. After a short safety car period, he continued his rise at the restart to move up to 17th.

He gained two more places before handing the car over to Burns, who immediately set about making further progress. Once the pitstop window was over, the Weston racer had settled into the top 10 before a safety car period.

When the race restarted with only 12 minutes remaining on the clock, Burns was in eighth place. A podium seemed out of his reach, however, he had other ideas and immediately grabbed seventh at the first corner, but storming onto the tail of the pack ahead.

He moved into fourth before produced a grandstand finish as a brilliant switchback manoeuvre through the final two corners on the last lap netted them third overall and second in the Silver class.

Full of confidence, Burns was hoping to produce another big performance in race two on Sunday. Unfortunately he would get less than a single racing lap during his opening stint though, with a couple of large incidents leading to a long safety car period and then a red flag stoppage.

Besler would take the restart in 10th place for just 13 minutes of racing. He wasted no time in making progress and despite another short safety car period, he was able to end up a brilliant fifth overall, securing them another Silver podium in the process with third in class.
