Cheddar were denied the opportunity of a fifth successive game without defeat on Saturday in their final game of the season after a 2-1 defeat against AEK Boko.

Racing out of the blocks like a runaway train, the Cheesemen were immeasurably on top of proceedings in the opening exchanges and after Lewis Chappell showed commendable close control could his blistering shot cannoned off the crossbar.

On 25 minutes however, the hosts took a deserved lead and Ryan Eardley – who scored the late equaliser against Wells City two days earlier – robbed Boko defender Toby Reince 22 yards from goal, surged forward and hit an unstoppable shot past Kai Wilson with a wonderfully crisp finish to make it 1-0 at half-time.

Without doubt, Boko's second half restructure saw them come back into the contest.

On 55 minutes, Nathan Hall’s persistence got him beyond Cheddar's hesitant defence and despite Lewis Jennings’s brave attempt to stop the ball crossing the line, the scores were level.

The equaliser proved to be a stunning blow, and, on the hour, the visitors went further ahead with a goal of quality.

Drew Thomas delivered a superbly hit crossfield, met first time by Ollie Williams whose downward header was expertly drilled home by Jack Sheppard-Cozens for what proved to be the winning goal.
