THE Avalon A team enjoyed  a very useful win over a Cricket St Thomas team who arrived at Brean sitting at the top of Division One.

Dan Broom's men produced a solid display of golf, running out 4-1 victors and with the points gained over their rivals they moved ahead of them in the table with both clubs have two games remaining.

Both of the Brean games are on home turf but both themselves and Cricket St Thomas still have to face Long Sutton who are also in the top flight title mix this Summer.

Brian Read carded no less than three birdie Two's in Saturday Super Series Stableford which helped him compile a winning score of 44 points.

Along with top prize he secured a quarter of the two's pot on a day when they seemed to be in plentiful supply.

Connor Thompson took advantage of the slightly favourable early conditions to return a winning score of 40 stableford points in Sunday's Super Series.

Teeing off in the first group of the day and beating the worst of the rain Thompson was the only player in the field to reach 40 and he was three clear of one of his playing partners for the day in Bailey Warren.

In Division One it was Chris Fairchild who headed the leaderboard at the conclusion of the event.

He posted 37 points to seal a one point victory over Tommie Holyday.

Earlier in the week forty four Stableford points saw David Hunter land the Veterans Trophy.

With two equal halves of 22 points apiece he finished two clear of Jeff Milton and Tony McCann.
