Brean GC seniors Captain Ian Rogers claimed the coveted D&C Men's Open Trophy last Saturday.

Rogers score of nett 65 was two clear of his nearest rival as over 70 players took to the course to do battle.

West, who is a past winner of the event, took second with his 67 ahead of a quartet of players on 68. Leighton Jenkins was the best of those on the back nine to secure third.

In the gross section of the event a countback was required to decide the winner. Tom Broom got the verdict over another former event winner in Adam Cox (Burnham & Berrow) who returned to his former club to support the event. Both players shot scores of 76 with Broom taking the top spot with the better back nine. Club champion Dan Broom was third on 79 and, like his cousin Tom, he won a back nine countback with Scott Miles for the position.

Half a dozen players either reached or surpassed the 40-point mark in Sunday's Super Series event with Nathan Pickering being the best of the bunch with a superb score of 43. This return was enough to give him the top spot in Division One as well as collecting the maximum 10 Series points on offer. He was three clear of Zak Jones and Jenkins with Jones taking second on countback.

Another countback was required to decide the victor of Division Two as both club captain Gordy Wheelaghan and Martin Kennelly scored 41 apiece. The back nine scores fell in favour of Kennelly as he took the top spot from Wheelaghan. Dave Glasby's 40-point return secured him third.

Just eight strokes separated 12 teams at the conclusion of the Seniors Fun Day Scramble, which this year was again played using the Vegas scramble rules. Each team player had to drive off and then they roll the dice to decide where they would head to play the second shot from.

One team had no such issues though as they romped to a comfortable victory, enjoying a three stroke winning margin at the end of play. John Cranley, Martyn Brown, Alan Evans and Tracy Spencer posted a superb nett 51 to take the win from two quartets finishing on 54. A back nine countback saw second go to Brian Reeves, Nigel Ellis, Brian Waite and Debbie Windmill as they relegated Dave Mann, Paul Bacon, Mike Short and Linda Edmondson to third.
