It was a family affair at Wedmore Golf Club as grandfather Nick Parker and granddaughter Abi Moore claimed the King Alfred and Queen Elizabeth Cups recently.

Parker clinched the win with a gross 78, putting him three clear of Pete Brown and Bill Lander, with Brown taking second on countback.

Moore's gross score of 80 was four better than Shirley Gooding, who finished one ahead of Annie Patten.

There were prizes for each of the best male and female nett scores with Lee Saxon taking the men’s prize with a nett 68 and Ladies winner Alison Dodkin with a nett 72.

Thursday had seen a packed field of 140 plus ladies competing for the Ladies Open Autumn Bowmaker. Overall winners were June Symonds, Gail Proctor, Jacqui Gregory and Hayley Bullock from Farrington on 88. This was just one better than best visiting team of Sue Chambers, Marlyn Jackson, Pauline Hassall and Joan Jenkinson from Weston.

Holding up the honour of best home team were Liz Hill, June Smith, Liz Miller and Ashley Ribi on 81 with Shirley Gooding, Dawn Chadwick, Lyn Bird and Alysia Rees the best mixed, home and visitors team.

Mike Smith won the Away Day at Thornbury on Wednesday and Roy Tomlins, Martin Easton and Tony Phelps who won the Seniors Waltz Bowmaker with 79 points on Monday.
