The final game of the Proper Job Weston & District midweek season ended with a win for Wedmore over Burnham-on-Sea recently.

Burnham battled first and made a good start with Brad House anchoring the innings while Lee Coles contributed an explosive 37 which included four sixes.

When House was dismissed for 62 Matt Dibble made a quick 25 to lift the final total to 156-4.

Billy Halford scored a quick-fire 22 at the start of the reply before Jack Tonkins scored 57 not out, and Toby Fayers hit 61 not out combined to see Wedmore home by nine wickets.

Chairman Tony James said he was happy with how the season went.

“It’s gone very smoothly this season,” he said.

“We ended up with Lympsham Allsorts winning the First Division, Shaftesbury Road in second.

“In the Stephenson Memorial Cup it was Shaftsbury Road who won that with Wedmore runners-up.

“The Consolation Cup was Cleeve Ducks beating Cheddar and the second division was won by Uphill Castle and the runners-up were Cleeve Ducks.

“So all in all it was a successful season.”
