Brean B followed up last year’s Division Five triumph with another Avalon League Championship as they claimed the Division Four title recently.

Steve Hill's men drew their final game of the season against Oake Manor 2.5 games apiece but the points gained were enough to secure them the League title.

Over the season the squad consisted of far more than the 10 who played the final game and have all combined and contributed to bringing the Championship to Brean.

Brean's A team concluded their Division One fixtures for 2023 with a 4-1 win at home over Stockwood Vale.

They must now await the result of a game between Stockwood Vale and Farrington Park to find out whether they will join the B team in celebrating another League triumph as Farrington Park can overtake them with a 4-1 scoreline or better in their favour. 

Three Js from the Welsh side of the Bristol Channel took their respective Divisional wins in the September Monthly Stableford on Sunday.

Mark Jenkins led the way in Division Two with a best of the day 39-point return to claim top by a single point from Steve Hill. 

Club chairman Trevor Pitt was third on 37. 

Mark Jenkins’s brother Leighton took Division One with 37 points to his name on his scorecard.

Lee Vaughan was the runner-up on 35 with Scott Miles in third on 34. 

Division Three went to Andrew Jones with a score of 38 points. He enjoyed the biggest winning margin of all the Divisions with five points separating him from runner-up Dave Bradley. Ian Adams finished third on 32.

Last Saturday's Super Series event was won by Sam Grosvenor with a superb score of 45 points.

He topped the Division Two scorecharts in by a single point from Mike Allen with Gareth Davies in third on 43. 

40 points was sufficient to earn Murray Parsons Division One top spot. This was two points clear of Mats Mattsson with Clive Goode back in third on 36.

The Lady Secretary Shanker competition rules restricts each competitor to use just two clubs and a putter to navigate the 18 holes. 

Joan Maxwell made light of the restriction to take the win. She stormed to victory with a superb score of 45 points which was 10 clear of her nearest challenger. 

Defending Champion Carole Short was the runner-up on 35 with Lady Captain Bev Cranley in third one point behind.
