Weston-super-Mare AFC have announced Jay Murray has joined Bridgwater United on a permanent deal.

Murray joined from Clevedon Town in July 2021.

He made 75 appearances, scoring one goal and recording seven assists and helped the club secure promotion to the Vanarama National League South after winning the Southern Premier South title last season.

In a statement published on Twitter,  the club said: ”We would like to wish Jay all the best as he moves to Bridgwater United and thank him for his contributions during his time at the Club.”

Murray began his career with Congresbury and Cheddar Reserves during the 2017-2018 season when he was 16.

At the start of the 2018-2019 season Murray joined Toolstation Western Premier League side Odd Down, before, in January, he switched to Hengrove Athletic.

He rejoined Odd Down in the summer of 2019, before moving to fellow Western League Premier Division side Clevedon Town in August 2019, where he scored 18 goals and assisted 11 in over 50 appearances before joining Weston two years later.

“I want to thank the fans and club for making me feel welcome at my local team since joining and also (I would) like to thank the players who I’ve made friends for life with, see you soon Seagulls,” Murray posted on Twitter.

“It’s been a pleasure but a decision needed to help me get as much minutes as possible.”
