Weston-super-Mare Golf Club's Jade Cope and Glenda Latham-Creasey were crowned winners of the 2023 BDLGA Scratch Foursomes at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club recently.

The annual knockout competition is drawn between 14 clubs and is played over three rounds before reaching the final on a neutral course.

The girls beat Saltford in the first round, followed by Clevedon in round two and Mendip in the semi-final.

The two girls came up against a strong pairing from Burnham and Berrow in the final and it looked like they had it in the bag at six-up on the ninth hole.

But Burnham fought back with great putting skills and the tension built as Weston went to the 17th two-up. Burnham put their drive into the bunker on the par three and, joyfully, Latham-Creasey hit sailed between the bunkers onto the green which secured the match to be crowned deserved winners.

"We are so proud to have Jade as the Ladies Champion for the 12th consecutive year at Weston,” lady captain of Weston-super-Mare Golf Club Di Walker said.

“She has been with us since Junior level and represented Somerset in the South West Championships this year.

“Glenda is a past Captain and past President at Weston and has been ladies champion many times over. The pair make a formidable partnership and we are absolutely delighted that their talent has been recognised once again."
