Ashcombe Park Bowling Club celebrated their end of a successful season last Saturday.

The Crusaders finished runners-up in Weston & District League's Division One, while the Knights were crowned Division Two winners and will join the Crusaders next campaign.

The Ladies teams all finished in top three in all three Triples League they played, including a convincing win in the Wessex Rink League with 102 points.

In the Men’s Championship final Tim Mitchell recorded a first for Ashcombe by winning both Men’s Novice competition and the Men’s Championship.

Paul March was awarded Club Member of the Year for his efforts as fixtures secretary by Roy Powell

Across the season the club has raised almost £1,700 for Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity and a cheque was presented to Liana Sommers the Charity’s Community Partnership  Leader at the Closing Day Celebration.

“We are extremely proud of both our Men’s and Ladies teams and their performance this season. I would like to thank both Ben Benstead and Lesley Paterson for their efforts on and off the greens," chairman Nigel Walker said.

"Also, all the volunteers behind the scenes, too many to mention, who make this Club what it is today, a great place to play bowls. We welcomed a record number of new players this season and it’s fair to say Ashcombe is a thriving bowling Club with a bright future."
