BREAN Golf Club completed 'the full set' of Quad Cup wins on Sunday as they tasted victory for the fourth consecutive time at Tall Pines.

With it they became the first club to ever achieve this feat.

The annual Trophy was presented by Terry Murray back in 1995 and involves the 4 clubs he had significant involvement with as a PGA Professional.

The cup continues to be played in his memory since his passing a few years ago and is organised by his son Alex, the Professional at Tall Pines.

Each year the host club rotates and Brean have now won on home turf as well as at Isle of Wedmore, Weston-super-Mare and Tall Pines.

Sunday's win was also their 9th success making them the most successful club of the quartet of clubs in the event.

The team of twelve who brought the Cup back to Brean played against each of the other clubs twice and between them won 5 out of the 6 games to give them the silverware.

All games were close affairs with the only loss being by 1 down yet the biggest win being by just 2&1 which came from Nathan Pickering and Rob Perry in the first game.

The other winners were Pete Barton/Simon Prior, Simon Copping/Rich Fairchild, Neil Barker/Kevin White and Tony McCann/Barry Roe, who won the final game to clinch victory.

Club Captain Gordy Wheelaghan and Club Professional Andrew March were the only ones to lose and that came thanks to a monster putt on the home hole by their Tall Pines opponents. Next year it is Brean's turn to host the event as they see if they can keep their winning sequence going.
